There are several things that make Torchlight II stand out from other Runic games. With additional challenges to the gameplay, the game is also much more replayable, with players able to try out all the levels again. Players who previously enjoyed the first game, but lost interest after a few hours, will find this to their advantage, because they can now play through the campaign in the way they used to - but still enjoy the game at the same level they once found it. In particular, the new game plus system offered by Runic Games really does make this game significantly greater than its predecessor. It's significant to note that the gameplay in Torchlight II isn't quite as ambitious or open-ended as the first game did, but this doesn't take away from its substantial benefits. In contrast to the first game, in which players take an active part in a storyline, the second one involves players taking on the persona of a certain secondary character, and travelling throughout the various realms in search of answers to several lingering questions. Humanity has been scattered into many realms among theizen, each with its own view of the way of life, religion, and magic. The game is set in the world of Remnant, where humanity hasn't reached since the destruction of their Endless War against the Vexen. The game is a sequel of the hit PC game, Torchlight. Torchlight II is an improved action-adventure role-playing dungeon crawling video game, developed by Runic Games, also released for Microsoft Windows under the title Torchlight.

Best tires for 2017 chevy traverse cecilfiebich I outline a process of gameplay socialization that organizes the development of meaning-making over the course of their participation, and show how players had varied socialization experiences. Players engaged in micro-level meaning-making processes through which they made sense of the virtual environments. Using a symbolic interactionist approach and an array of qualitative methods such as observations, talk-aloud protocols, audiovisual recordings of gameplay, “gameplay reviews” and in-depth interviews, I extracted rich data from the gameplay and interpretations of eight university student participants who each played approximately 20 hours of each game. I explore how participants experienced socialization into two digital games that they had never played before, World of Warcraft and Portal 2. This study addresses a lack of research into the socialization experiences of new media technology users. Among these, digital games continue their rise in significance, constituting a visible domain within which people learn and develop specific sets of skills and practices. Non-human entities, in other words, are themselves social beings. Objects, then, should not be theorized as having various mechanical impacts upon human communities that they interact with, but should instead be theorized as members of the community in of themselves. 3.) That objects are also subjects, and engage in intersubjective meaning-making both with humans and other objects. 2.) That it is theoretically and empirically possible to examine objects in of themselves, and that it is important to do so, as both material and non-material objects contain causal powers that impact history and society independent of the human recognition or conceptualization of these powers. Scholars of materiality, then, often miss the mark, and study the conceptualizations of objects at the expense of the objects in of themselves. I will forward, then, three major arguments: 1.) That it is often the case, particularly in the social sciences, that scholars look not at non-human objects, but instead at the ways those objects are perceived and labeled by humans/society. The "ontological Turn" in philosophy, the "material turn" in anthropological and sociological sciences, the "posthuman" moment in the humanities, and the "Cognitive Archaeology" movement in cognitive science, among others, all share a common thread of critiquing the anthropocentrism of the humanities and social theory. This project is therefore indebted to various recent movements in the social sciences and the humanities that have begun to take more seriously the ways in which "things" impact human life. In particular, this dissertation focuses on the relationship among humans and nonhumans, and the material and the non-material in the creation of digital art and design. The weapons select bar was on an empty box each time - missiles then lasers. This dissertation examines the social relationships of material objects (including, but not limited to, humans and things) and idea objects (including, but not limited to, broad cultural and social forces) that constitute the world. While this would have been a fantastic waste of money had bought this phone charging dock at full retail price, he didn’t. With new USB hubs, an Intel Compute Stick, and Sugru, got OpenSTF up and running. ADB simply doesn’t work with this setup, so had to completely replace the USB brains of this device. Inside, there are three four-port USB hubs providing ten ports. On the outside, there are ten USB ports for ten different devices. This charging station is not meant to be used this way. There really isn’t a lot going on inside this $500 phone charger, with a few modifications this enclosure can become an awesome phone farm. This device was the Griffin MultiDock 2, a charging station for smartphones and tablets ostensibly designed for classrooms. needed an OpenSTF device lab, and found the perfect product to repurpose into a great looking enclosure. Deep in the heart of a Chinese click farm - and probably used by the company your company hired to build an ‘app’ - is a magical device. Patek Philippe was the first watchmaker to accommodate all the finickety components of a split-seconds chronograph in a wristwatch. Mr Gaston Breitling launched the world’s first wrist chronograph with a push-piece separated out from the crown at two o’clock, to make the operation of start, stop and reset all the more functional.ġ923: The first split-seconds chronograph Reportedly, Heuer had equipped doctors with a similar chronograph in 1908, but it was almost certainly a pocket watch repurposed for the wrist. The first purpose-built wristwatch chronograph is a “doctor’s watch” with pulsometer calibration. A chronograph in the truest “drawing time” sense. Mr Moinet used it to help make astronomical observations, and, impressively for the first item of its kind, it could measure time down to a 60th of a second.Ī design since aped by the Montblanc watch of the same name, it dropped an ink dot onto a rotating paper disc to time horses. Mr Nicolas Rieussec’s crude contraption of 1821, (a true “time writer” as the Greek-derived “chronograph” contraction translates), dolloped a spot of ink onto a rotating disc of paper and dropped another when the timed event – usually, a horse race – came to an end.Īs it transpired at a Christie’s watch auction in 2012, there was another, older chronograph in existence: a rather boxy, tired-looking pocket watch made in 1816 by Mr Louis Moinet (although, because you look at the elapsed time as indicated by the hands, rather than it being drawn, it is a chrono_scope_ in the strictest Greek sense just like every other so-called chronograph, in fact). What we thought was the first ever stopwatch wasn’t even a watch at all, and had neither hands or dials. It is an oddity of watchmaking history that until 2012, we weren’t even sure who had made the first chronograph. Our guide distills this history to its landmark points, and explains some of the often confusing terminology you’ll find when shopping for a chronograph today.ġ816: Mr Louis Moinet’s Compteur de Tierces Despite the existence of digital alternatives, they are still are prized by pilots and drivers alike, and desire for mid-century models has fuelled a roaring boom in the vintage watch market. Since the turn of the millennium, developments in manufacturing techniques ushered in a flurry of highly advanced chronographs from the world’s top watchmakers, but the chronograph’s appeal remains ubiquitous. The very first was conceived as an aid to astronomical observations over the years, chronographs have proven indispensable to everything from horse racing to space exploration.Īs with all the most practical innovations in watchmaking, they were used extensively in warfare and, in the second half of the 20th century, became indelibly associated with motorsport, particularly Formula 1. Since their invention more than 200 years ago, chronographs have established themselves as far and away the most versatile additions to the field of timekeeping. First of all, you’ve surely been in the situation where you wanted to attach an image or video to email only to get an error saying that the file is too big. There are numerous reasons why using a Mac file archiver to compress files makes perfect sense for users. Why Is It Important to Compress Files on Mac? And while RAR offers better compression rates, they lack archiving speed or the ability to split the archives in multiple volumes. The biggest rival for ZIP archive formats, RAR is another extremely popular one. Ever since ZIP and GZ archive formats appeared, TAR lost some of its traction but is still used by classics. IT’s basically a series of blocks with a specific amount of bytes attached to each block. TAR is another of the popular archive formats you will find in pretty much any file archiver Mac software. It’s widely used on macOS, Linux and Unix and the open-source format makes it very accessible. It combines the GZip compression method with lots of archiving techniques for excellent results. GZ is one of the formats that are gaining a lot of popularity in recent years. When you choose the best file archiver for Mac you need to take into consideration the formats it handles. Despite the exceptional speed, ZIP doesn’t offer the best compression rate for files. This allows archivers to deliver exceptional speeds and an overall easy operation. Zip files are extremely versatile and their strength comes from the ability of compression files together or go file by file and applying compression on specific ones. It’s one of the most common formats out there. However, we’re checking the ones that are used the most: As you know, there are hundreds of formats available out there and new ones are being developed daily. How do I Unzip an Archive File on a Mac?.What is the Key Difference Between ZIP and RAR?.Why Is It Important to Compress Files on Mac?.In this article, we’re going to tell you about some of the best archive utilities Mac users can turn to for excellent results. This happens because Apple never bothered to upgrade the utility on their OS since third-party apps focused on this specific section appeared and. While it does reduce the file size, the Mac archive utility doesn’t have a great impact on overall disk space before and after compressing. However, the truth is that it’s not very efficient at its job. The archive utility Mac computers come with does its best when it comes to compressing large files and allowing you to reduce data consumption. Therefore, archiving software is still relevant in the present day, and having a reliable one installed on your Mac can make a world of difference. Large transfer services like WeTransfer or even cloud storage such as Dropbox have limits on the files and folders you can upload. The Reina–Valera Bible is one of the Bible translations authorized to be used in Spanish-language services of the Church of Christ, Scientist, the Anglican Communion as well as by many religious groups. Almost all Hispanic churches use it, despite further attempts to revise it (for example, the unofficial Reina–Valera-Gomez revision). However, the 1960 revision became the common Bible of many millions of Spanish-speaking Protestants around the world, surpassing the 1909 in its reception. Since the resurgence of the King James Only movement in the United States (and its exportation to other countries), there has been much debate among Christian groups who use the Reina–Valera Bible. Apart from updating the vocabulary where necessary, its major innovations lie in the area of visual presentation: Hebrew verse is printed in a way that reflects its structure rather than as if it were prose, and while the numbering of verses has been retained the text is laid out clearly in paragraphs. In addition, it uses for the second-person plural the pronoun "vosotros" (except for the Reina Valera Contemporánea which replaces "vosotros" with "ustedes"), which is obsolete outside Spain. It retains the traditional form of the name of God, " Jehová" (with the notable exceptions of the Nueva Reina Valera 1990, revision which replaces "Jehová" with "El Eterno" and the Reina Valera Contemporánea, revision of 2011 which replaces "Jehová" with "El Señor"). Even the 1995 New Testament is based on the traditional Textus Receptus despite the fact that the United Bible Societies use modern critical Greek texts as the basis for other translations. The principle behind these revisions has been to remain as close to the original Reina–Valera as possible without causing confusion or misunderstanding. Modern editions often omit the Apocrypha. The British and Foreign Bible Society, the American Bible Society and the United Bible Societies published a total of fifteen revisions between 18 of which those of 1909, 19 are the most significant today and remain in print and a further revision appeared in 2011. For a time, it was known simply by de Valera's name. Among the reasons for the revision was the fact that in the intervening period words had changed their meanings or gone out of use. In 1602 Cipriano de Valera, a student of de Reina, published a revision of the Biblia del Oso which was printed in Amsterdam in which the deuterocanonical books were placed in a section between the Old and New Testaments called the Apocrypha. The 1569 version included the deuterocanonical books within the Old Testament and the 1602 version included the deuterocanonical books sandwiched between the Old and New Testaments. For the New Testament, he was greatly aided by the translations of Francisco de Enzinas and Juan Pérez de Pineda. As secondary sources, de Reina used the Ferrara Bible for the Old Testament and the Latin Edition of Santes Pagnino throughout. The translation was based on the Hebrew Masoretic Text (Bomberg's Edition, 1525) and the Greek Textus Receptus (Stephanus' Edition, 1550). It was first published on September 28, 1569, in Basel, Switzerland. (Earlier translations, such as the 13th-century Alfonsina Bible, translated from Jerome's Vulgate, had been copied by hand.) Jerome, and later an independent Lutheran theologian, with the help of several collaborators produced the Biblia del Oso, the first complete Bible printed in Spanish. Since that date, it has undergone various revisions notably those of 1602, 1862, 1909, 1960, 1977, 1995, and more recently in 2011.Ĭasiodoro de Reina, a former Catholic monk of the Order of St. This translation was known as the "Biblia del Oso" (in English: Bear Bible) because the illustration on the title page showed a bear trying to reach a container of honeycombs hanging from a tree. The Reina–Valera is a Spanish translation of the Bible originally published in 1602 until United Bible Societies in 1909 revised the earlier translation produced in 1569 by Casiodoro de Reina. China coronavirus: WHO declares international emergency as death toll exceeds 200. Hence an evolutionary phase in every field with better working protocols, robust mental health support, and a focus on strategies to face future such emergencies is required. The present study proved the unpreparedness among dental professionals. A significant imbalance was seen amongst the female dentists. The results of the study supported the hypothesis that factors like physical and mental health, activities, relationship status, and workplace influenced the work-life balance directly. Structural Equation Modelling and path analysis were applied to the data collected. Hence this study was conducted to understand the changes they underwent both at home and professional front with a hypothesis that physical and mental health, activities, relationship status, and workplace influence the work-life balance.Ī pre-validated questionnaire survey was done on dentists across India. A balance in the work-life amongst professionals is the key to better efficiency and, was majorly affected during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown due to sudden unexpected changes. Studies during the previous and present pandemics have shown mental issues among health care workers necessitating institutional reforms, along with early care and support. Dental professionals had to face job layoffs, salary cuts in professional colleges, closure of private clinics resulting in huge psychological, moral, and financial crises. As dental treatment was considered high risk in the spread of COVID-19, dentistry became one of the most vulnerable professions during this time. As an effort to control the disease spread, the Indian government declared a nationwide lockdown on March 25th, 2020. If we consider remote workers only, our results reveal that job satisfaction is higher, and work-life balance is not worse under a strict contractual agreement than under a nonbinding commitment. The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak in 2019, has shocked the entire world. When we compare employees working from home with those who want to work at home, we find that the former are happier. GENEVA: Reduced working hours and more flexible working time arrangements, such as those used during the Covid-19 crisis, can bring benefits for economies, businesses and workers, such as greater productivity and improved work-life balance, a new report released by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on Friday found. In contrast, the introduction of remote work increases job satisfaction, although only temporarily. However, the termination of remote work causes a clear imbalance. On average, remote work has no significant impact on work-life balance, which is conditioned by private interests. A private life can reduce work-life balance under specific conditions, namely, if remote work takes place outside of contracted working hours and during the first phase of remote work. Work-life imbalance may be induced by job-related causes. We present average effects and demonstrate under which conditions remote work is advantageous for employees. Our control variables are personality traits, skills, employment and job characteristics. The recent work has highlighted a dramatic shift toward working from home The objective of this contribution is to empirically analyze the relationship between working remotely and job satisfaction on the one hand, as well as between working remotely and work-life balance on the other hand, based on three waves of the German Linked Personnel Panel. Until the COVID-19 crisis the share of remote workers was relatively low and empirical investigations show inconsistent results. Working remotely can complement and sometimes completely substitute conventional work at the workplace of the company. Now, we do have to note that you should take this potential leak with a hearty grain of salt. In terms of the Series X|S improvements, the increased framerates ensures this is the version to make the most of if you want to become a full-on Ghostrunner. In the latest episode of Defining Duke, a podcast by the folks at Last Stand Media, YouTuber MrMattyPlays claims to have heard that Forza Motorsport is coming out in October. You’ll find yourself dying a ton of times as you get to grips with Ghostrunner’s mechanics, but the checkpointing is very relaxed and it feels good to play in short bursts. The story is good, yet it’s the action which is utterly frenetic albeit quite difficult. Ghostrunner provides hard adrenaline, fast parkour, and ninja fighting action that demands your attention. The voice-over work is solid as well, covering some great material in a more than acceptable way. The soundtrack is frantic too, but this fits neatly with the gameplay, all delivered via a very good score. It’s a shame really that you’ll rarely have a moment to spare to take it all in. But in the cutscenes and the bigger open areas, the game colours and lighting come across as nothing but superb. The world looks good, even when you are running through it at a hundred miles an hour. Ghostrunner certainly doesn’t disappoint in that respect. What you won’t fail to become a sucker for though is the futuristic cyberpunk design and visuals. Whether you can handle this constant will dictate whether Ghostrunner is for you or not. It took me a while to learn how to deal with enemies as a whole, and even then I’ve been left restarting countless times. Just be aware that there’s a chance that as soon as you take down one, you’ll find yourself shot in the back by another. Should you find the time to stay alive for more than a few minutes, making the most of a cybernetic sword will see you cutting through enemies with one slash. Luckily the checkpointing is very generous in Ghostrunner, but you will find yourself dying over and over, again and again. The biggest dampener to your hero-like antics is that the enemies can one-shot you. Get into the groove and you will find yourself in tune with the rhythm, bouncing across the city like a superhero. Yes you can slow down time for a moment, and give yourself a boost to cover the bigger jumps or avoid the gunfire from the deadly enemies shooting at you, and there’s the chance to grapple too something which is tremendous fun. You jump ledges at speed, slide down ramps at speed, and move from wall-to-wall with horrible gravity-defying speed. The closest comparison I can make gameplay-wise is that of Mirror’s Edge, especially in terms of its speed and freerunning style. You see, in Ghostrunner you need to be constantly on the move, and that’s how the game wants you to play it. In fact, I don’t think I’ve died so many times in a game tutorial in my 40-year history of playing games as I have here with Ghostrunner. The gameplay takes a while to get used to, mostly as death is hugely prevalent. There are also aids to help assist you with shooting as well and you’ll need these as you move swiftly across the world, taking in the ability to jump, duck and wield a huge sword to take down enemies who want to shoot you in the face with lasers guns. Oh, and 4K resolution and 120fps are also supported. Set in the first person throughout, and now with Xbox Series X|S optimised upgrades, everything can be toggled to include performance upgrades all with quick load times between the many, many deaths. But it’s the fast gameplay and action-packed speedrunning where Ghostrunner really comes to life. It’s an intriguing story that takes you through a 6 to 7-hour playthrough and it’s enjoyable to sit through what the developers have set out to achieve with this story. A voice in your ear – The Architect – pipes up, instructing you what to do and where to go, and bit by bit it’s here where the truth of who you are is revealed. You awaken confused, unable to remember who you are and what your purpose is in this world. The world feels like it’s falling apart so it is up to you – the Ghostrunner – to fix it. It takes place in a cyberpunk world, one full of steam-filled city rooftops and neon-drenched skies. If you haven’t got those then by God you will have to learn them fast. Ghostrunner is a game that requires you to be skillful, quick of mind and full of lightning reflexes. |
